about the project

LXcat (pronounced "elecscat") is an open-access website for collecting, displaying, and downloading ELECtron SCATtering cross sections and swarm parameters (mobility, diffusion coefficient, reaction rates, etc.) required for modeling low temperature plasmas. The available data bases, indicated by the contributor's chosen title, include either complete sets of electron-neutral scattering cross sections or experimentally measured swarm parameters for different gases.

This is a dynamic website, evolving as contributors add or upgrade data.
Please check back again frequently.

how to use

Please visit how to use page before using this site. We encourage users to join the Google discussion group. News, forthcoming events and discussions on various technical points (e.g. 2-term expansion, treatment of anisotropic scattering) are covered in the discussion group.

New contributors are very welcome. Anyone wishing to up-load their cross section sets and/or swarm parameters to this site should contact lxcat.info@@gmail.com to obtain an account and to receive instructions.

If you need access to previously retrieved versions of the data, please contact lxcat.info@@gmail.com.

how to reference these data in publications

Use of the data on this site in publications should be accompanied by proper references. Original references should be used where possible or reference should be made to the contributor name using the example format here:

Swarm coefficient calculated on this site should make reference to both the cross section data in the above format and to BOLSIG+, the Boltzmann solver used in the calculations:
